Video calling is a great way to stay in touch with friends and family online. Online video calls can make us feel more connected and helps with feelings of loneliness.
Video calling is when you “ring” a contact through your web browser or smartphone using your video camera on that device. You will need to either have the contacts: mobile number, email, or share with them a link (URL) that you both access through a web browser or application.
The main video call applications are Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Facebook Messinger, WhatsApp, and Facetime (Apple).
We have linked to each of these above if you would like to learn more or download them. For the purpose of this course, we will be looking at Zoom. It is worth noting that some of the video messaging platforms mentioned above may have free and paid-for services and features. Make sure you carefully read their terms and conditions before committing.
